My experience studying a master’s in Human Resource Management

Lateef recently graduated from RGU and shares what he has learned studying the MSc Human Resource Management course at RGU and how it has prepared him for his career.

Why I chose RGU

While searching for a university that provides a postgraduate degree in Human Resource Management, I came across RGU. The first thing that appealed to me was my familiarity with the city of Aberdeen, where the University is located. Besides, the institution accommodates a diverse population of international and home students.

RGU also ranks highly globally, coupled with a reputable commitment to student satisfaction. In addition, it provides students with excellent employment prospects.

How the course prepared me for my career in HR

The MSc in Human Resource Management significantly impacted my academic and professional development during and after completing my degree. This MSc degree accredited by the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) broadened my perspective, improved my analytical skills and gave meaning to my career trajectory.

My excitement for a higher degree grew, and the educational facilities provided by RGU strengthened my career goals. Studying advanced topics in various Human Resource Management practices broadened my horizons and improved my ability to conduct independent research.

Again, I completed the programme with a distinction among the first percentile. In the course of writing the extended research proposal, I constantly received maximum support from my supervisor, a distinguished doctorate holder of Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion, who was ever willing to review and refine the extended research proposal.

Her vital reviewing and refining from the initial stages of conceptualization to the meticulous crafting of the final draft of the research proposal gave me more clarity and understanding. Thus, she exhibited a keen attention to detail and an unwavering commitment to my research.

My knowledge was further enriched as I was exposed to best global practices in Human Resource Management both theory and practice. Human Resource Management Practices offered me advanced analytical tools that I can instantly use to my HR career aspirations.

My capacity to interact with others and communicate globally has improved as a result of the varied cohort and group courses. Overcoming the difficulty of studying in the UK allowed me to become more adaptable and fluent in the language. Making links with academics and industry leaders in the sector led to internship and career possibilities around Europe.

This experience has strengthened my technical talents, resilience, and global perspective, boosting my competitiveness and adaptability as a candidate in the global employment market. Conclusively, this degree has equipped me with the necessary skills, abilities, credibility, and potential, allowing me to secure a PhD degree.
